Music Ministry
FPC’s vital music ministry is focused on the chief end of humanity:
To glorify and enjoy God forever.

The Chancel Choir leads congregational singing and offers a wide variety of sacred choral music from August to May. University student Choral Scholars serve as choir section leaders, cantors, and soloists.
Children 4 years – 5th grade sing weekly as they gather for SpiritLink Sunday school, and they also sing periodically in worship.
Congregational singing is founded on, but not limited to, the Glory to God hymnal.
All are invited to be part of the musical life of this community of faith as we make a joyful noise to the Lord together. If you would like to sing with the choir or offer other musical talents, please contact Interim Choir Director, Dr. Christopher Haygood via the Church Office.

Choir and Choral Scholars

Choir Rehearsal October 2023
The Chancel Choir is a musical family that welcomes everyone 7th grade and older. Neither experience nor church membership are required. We rehearse Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:15pm in the choir room (Westminster room) and Sundays at 10:15am in the Sanctuary. We lead congregational singing and present anthems at most 11:00am services from mid-August through mid-May.
Highlights of our year include the presentation of festive anthems for World Communion, Reformation, All Saints, Reign of Christ, Transfiguration, Palm Sunday, and Easter services. On the second Sunday of Advent (usually the first Sunday in December), we present a Service of Lessons and Carols that tells the Christmas story from prophecy to proclamation in word and music. The choir also sings for Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday services. Supporting one another in faith and in life, we enjoy monthly birthday recognitions, breakfasts on Easter and the Sunday of Lessons and Carols, and Christmas and end-of-year parties.
The Choral Scholar program is both an internal and outreach ministry. Oklahoma State University students, some of whom have not previously experienced liturgical worship, serve as choir section leaders, soloists, and as cantors for services where the choir is not present. Volunteer choir members support and mentor these students in the course of their college careers.
It has been said that the heart of a church’s music ministry is the choir, and that the health of a congregation can be gauged by its singing. Both ring true in our robust, welcoming community of faith!
CHILDREN & YOUTH MUSIC
Youth instrumentalists are encouraged to share their talents in worship as able. Our instrumental music library supports opportunities for instrumentalists of all levels of ability to share their talents and collaborate with others. Youth grades 7-12 are invited to join the Chancel Choir.
