Youth Ministry

The youth ministry of First Presbyterian Church accompanies and empowers youth on their journey to be life-long disciples who live out their faith by love, serving, and growing in Christ.

Sunday Morning

Worship

8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Worship is the central act of our faith and youth are invited to be part of the gathered community. Youth are also invited to lead in worship as greeters, ushers, readers, and musicians/vocalists.

YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL

9:45-10:45 a.m. on Sundays, mid-August to mid-May

All youth 6th-12th grade begin in the Youth Suite (second floor, north end of hallway) for fellowship and snacks at 9:45am. Youth will go to their class spaces at 10:00 a.m. Aspen Sundays occur various Sundays throughout the year (meet in the Youth Suite at 9:45 a.m. and walk to Aspen Coffee downtown together for a time of check-in and conversation. Coffee is on the church!).

During Sunday School, we provide an opportunity for youth to grow in their understanding of how God’s Spirit works through each of us and consider what it means to be a disciple of Christ. We nurture an environment where questions can be asked, faith is deepened, and relationships are built.

Middle School: 6th-7th Grade

6th-7th Grade

Connect with God’s big story of the Old and New Testaments through videos, Bible exploration, and hands-on projects.

Confirmation: 8th-9th Grade

Confirmation is an intentional time of discernment and conversations about faith, engaging scripture and the Reformed tradition as they explore their own faithful response. The Confirmation process includes mentors who walk alongside our confirmands, opportunities to learn and practice using the language of faith, and experiences where confirmands commit themselves to love in the way of Jesus Christ.

Senior High: 10th-12th Grade

Senior High Youth will gather weekly for faith exploration as they consider how their faith interacts with the world.

Sundays, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
6th-12th Grade
Youth Suite (second floor, north end of hallway)

Presbyterian Youth Group (PYG) is a weekly time for youth to gather for fun, fellowship, study, and service as we deepen our faith and live out our faith together.

2022-2023 Theme: Following Jesus

Following Jesus is something all of us are called to do every day of our lives. Following Jesus is an invitation to discipleship, an ongoing practice that we accept again and again. Our scripture study this year will focus on asking what it means when we choose to follow Jesus with every decision we make. We’ll learn how following Jesus translates to loving God and neighbor and bearing witness to God’s love and justice in our everyday world. We will explore faith practices that then become the lens through which we see the world.

Faith Milestones

These mark significant moments in growth and faith development as we share foundational aspects of our faith and faith practices. Our milestone celebrations and events occur throughout the year.

Baptism: as families decide

Resources for Families

FPC’s Faithful Families

The family is the number one influence on the faith life of children and youth. FPC is here to equip you and support you in this important role. On our Faithful Families website, you’ll find resources to engage in faith conversations and activities with children and youth, in addition to a number of resources specifically for parents/grandparents.

A safe, positive, and nurturing environment for our children and youth is important to us at First Presbyterian Church. Our staff and volunteers provide at least two adults per room for proper supervision and all who work with our children and youth have completed training and a background check per our FPC Child Protection Policy.
